Preschool is an optional school experience designed for children at least two and a half years old, up until the age of five when they enter kindergarten. While some preschool programs are offered through the public school system, most are offered through private or religious institutions. Such programs generally offer a play-based curriculum that prepares children for the school environment. Preschool teachers facilitate this experience for children in their classroom.

Preschool teachers are crucial to a successful preschool experience. For many children, preschool colors the way that they forever look at school; it is this first experience that should foster a lifelong love of learning and an overall sense of comfort and achievement within the preschool environment. Preschool teachers will often take basic concepts and incorporate them into play. Children at this age learn through play concepts that incorporate all of their senses. While they are having fun and practicing essential social concepts - being respectful of each other, taking turns, etc. - they are unaware that they are even absorbing educational concepts. Effective preschool teachers are able to engage the preschooler and offer lessons through these playful avenues.

Physical activities, such as ball play, foster hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills, writing games sharpen fine motor skills, card games help to encourage memory retention, and games focused on books instill a love of reading and language. Preschool teachers, in many cases, are extremely involved in the development of the curriculum - incorporating ABC's, math, social sciences, and history through learning games. Today's modern preschool teachers also have the computer at their disposal; computer games designed for preschoolers teach a variety of fun-filled lessons through the use of color, sound, and interactive games.

Qualifications for preschool teachers vary according to state however accreditation in some capacity is unilaterally required. State regulations dictate the level of education preschool teachers must have. But ultimately, the most important qualification for preschool teachers is the ability to instill a joy of learning that stays with their young students for a lifetime.

What educational toys are available for sight impaired children?

I am the friend of a mother with twin girls. They were born prematurely,weighed a pound and had to stay in an incubator for some time. The mother said that the light affected their sight. One had surgery and is walking unassisted. The other can walk on her own but has to take her time. Some people sy she listens for sounds to find her direction. Christmas is coming and I want to give something different from a stuffed toy. In february they will be three years and ready for preschool. There is no preschool for the visually impaired in my locale;and the mother cannot move now to an area with one as there is a long waiting list. Are there any suggestions for suitable educational toys. I know they like music because they can sing and they ' fight' when they are placed at my keyboard. There is a sister who is three years in the home so buying a keyboard will cause more disagreement.I doubt I can afford two unless they are reasonably priced. Are there other suggestions? Please help.

Many parents debate whether or not they should send their child to preschool, especially the year before kindergarten.

Questions come to mind-

Will my child know what to do when they get to kindergarten?
Will they have the skills they need?

Will they be behind?

The fear of having a child not understand or be below the level of the other children lead some parents to decide a formal preschool is the best option. Other parents will tell you the child needs to learn discipline needs to learn to sit, needs to learn to play in groups. All of these things can be accomplished by teaching your child at home. Whether home schooling is part of your future or not, you can keep you child home for preschool and accomplish the same things a formal preschool will in less time, with more control over the influences your child is exposed to, and with more control of the curriculum that is being taught. Teaching your preschooler at home will save you money, will save you time, and will increase the bond you have with your child. If you are sending them to kindergarten, this will be the last year they are home with you. Cherish the time and know you can do it on your own with help and guidance along the way.

Do not be concerned if you have never taught. Most of preschool is not formally taught but taught through example, conversation, and experiences. By providing your child with an environment rich in opportunities to explore and develop at his own speed rather than the speed of the group at preschool, he will be happier and so will you. Child develop in different areas at different speeds. Where my son was physically advanced, climbing, jumping, and running at an early age, my niece, who is seven weeks younger than my son, said her first word at 6 months and crawled at 14 months. My son could count at 2 years old to 14, my niece could write the first letter of her name by age 3. Every child is different and will progress differently.

There are many great sites on the internet to help you gather materials to teach your preschooler. Try not to overwhelm them with worksheets or busy work. Try to work in many different areas of learning including music, art, math, science, field trips, and logical thinking.

Teaching your preschooler can be fun and rewarding for you and your preschooler.

I recently celebrated my fifth Mother's Day. My family spent the day together doing simple fun things. I was perfectly content with my day and the gift my son made for me himself but later that evening as I watched the news (actual several news shows at once as my husband controlled the remote) I listened to several interviews with mothers in various walks of life and I started to wonder what our world would be like if mothers, all mothers, were given more more power to control the world. I was no longer content. I know I have a wishlist and I despair of seeing my wishes come true.

Peace has to top any mother's wishlist. My son is only 5 but I have already suffered through sending beloved nephews off to war and war zones. I cannot imagine sending my child to war. No mother wants to. I imagine if mothers made world policy then we would see much less war. I don't believe there are many people who desire war but if the women who actually gave life also had the final say in when it would be spent I think there would be a lot less war.

Plenty for all has to quickly follow the wish for peace as it the unequal division of the world's wealth that so often causes problems in the world. When there is little hope to achieve or a constant struggle to maintain the basic necessities of life then people will be driven to extremes. Our world has a tremendous bounty of food and water and other resources. Modern technology has created tremendous advances in health care. Yet there are mothers who cannot provide food, shelter, clothing, care, or protection for their children.

Understanding would likely resolve the conflicts with the first two wishes. Mothers of all races and creeds share far more in terms of priority and experience than they differ in idealogy and culture. No matter where, when or what we worship our prayers contain similar wishes, hopes, and fears for our children and that is an essentially human bond that could serve as a foundation for others. How much conflict and war in our world has simply been caused by not understanding? How much peace would we achieve by finding ways to bridge over those misunderstandings with common wishes? I think with better understanding would also come more tolerance for those differences that now separate us.

I will stop with these three wishes as three is a magical number. Perhaps if enough mothers share my wishes then they will indeed come true. I can only hope that my future Mothers Days will see more peace, plenty and understanding and less war, want, and intolerance.

Do I need to apply for an Adult Education Credential in the state of California?

My question is the following: I wanted to design a curriculum based on a personal development book. My curriculum design will become a 6 weeks Personal Development Course to be taught online or face to face to students of different ages. Do I need an Adult Education or a Teaching Credential for this?
I will NOT be offering any type of credential or Professional Certification; we would ONLY be studying with a methodology a Course that will enrich peoples’ lives.
The literature that I have researched on the web is not as clear as to who absolutely needs an AE Credential in California.
I understand and see the value of an AE to teach and certify a professional skill or an academic course like Math, English, Sociology, etc., but what I want to do does not fall into this realm.

There are many different ways to measure inflation. People should be aware of each of the different ways and what they mean so that they know what each of the measurements mean to them. Some of the measurements that are used to measure inflation are the consumer price index, the cost of living index (which most of us have heard of), the list index summary analysis, the producer price index, the wholesale price index, the commodity price index, and the gross domestic product deflator. All of these indexes measure different things to gauge inflation. There is also a measure called historical inflation. This method uses what experts believe the prices of items were before we began measuring inflation. This means that the measure uses the prices of items before the 1900's.

Inflation affects every aspect of money including wages, prices and interest rates. Sometimes experts say that inflation goes up and down and then balances out so fast that it has little effect on prices and wages. But the big question is what actually causes inflation and what effect it has on the economy. Experts believe that inflation may really have a good effect on the economy if it is not too big. This is because it is too hard to lower wages so prices must adjust themselves to compete. Another factor called deflation is considered to be bad because wages are adjusted downwards and prices become unstable. When inflation is high many people invest more of their money rather than spend it on prices that are too high. Because their "purchasing power" is lower these people would rather invest their hard earned money. But these investments will have to "stay ahead of inflation" by earning a bigger return than inflation will grow by. Inflation is also used to measure the cost of living in a given area and as a basis for issuing some bonds for investment. From this it is easy to see how the measure of inflation affects all of our economic transactions.

The theory of supply side economics says that the value of money depends on whether or not there is an increase in the supply of money or whether or not there is a decrease in the demand for money. This theory also says that there can be more money put into circulation and that this will not cause inflation as long as the demand for money also increases. There are many ways that the government has of trying to control inflation. These ways are generally discussed as part of a presidential candidate's election platform and continue to be discussed amongst government officials during a leader's term in office. This is called the government's monetary policy. A nation's national bank or central bank can help control inflation by raising interest rates.

Other ways to control inflation are to reduce the supply of money, reduce the demand for money, increase taxes, reduce government spending, and initiating what is called wage and price controls. This method is often used during wars to control inflation. Sometimes this method is not effective. This method is considered an extreme way of controlling inflation. Many experts say that wage and price controls don't work unless the government fixes what caused the inflation in the first place. The reason that this method is often used during wartime is because it is the war itself that has caused the inflation and this allows the government to control inflation until the war ends.

You should be able to do a Post Graduate 1 year course in Education to enable you to be qualified to teach maths. Don't know what universities do this course, but there are plenty in the UK and I'm sure there will be somewhere in Leeds or nearby!

Just walking into class on the first day and mumbling, "I'm Dr. Smithereens," and then just launching into whatever that day's lecture is (or bringing up your opening PowerPoint) or doing anything else that doesn't start to build interaction and rapport with students is going to cause a collective 'oh, great, not this,' from your students. Just be introducing yourself effectively to students on day 1 sets you apart from (way too) many other professors. Students will think, 'hmmm, this could be OK," which may be as excited as they are willing to get until you've proven yourself even further.

Consider this: Students register for particular class sections for either (or both) of two primary reasons: the convenience of its time slot, and the reputation of the professor. Said another way, consumer-oriented students care most about fitting the class into their already busy schedules, and having their needs met by a reliable professor. While greeting the students as they enter the classroom does much to establish the environment, your self-introduction is critical either to confirming the expectations students have already formed--or to creating expectations from scratch.

Many of today's students are skeptical toward authority figures, i.e., they question the motives, knowledge and experience levels of those in charge. Some enter your class neither highly motivated toward, nor enthusiastic about, learning, and perhaps intolerant of activities they do not perceive as productive. So your introduction of yourself needs to be sensitive, yet highly focused on the particular course you are teaching. Convey your understanding of their limited time, while also reinforcing your expectations of rigor. You will have many opportunities throughout the term to reveal your broader background, but in your initial introduction you should strive for succinctness, humility, and a bit of enthusiasm (and just a touch of humor if that's your style).

Your introduction should also clarify when and how students can contact you. Your syllabus will provide your office hours, phone and fax numbers, website, and E-mail address, and you need to let students know clearly whether or not your home phone is somewhere that they can call. My recommendation is not to allow or encourage that, however, other professors have found that students do not abuse it. Either way, make your policy clear on that (including off-limits times, etc.)

You will also want to let the students know when you will be available to meet with them individually, particularly if your classroom is not located near your office. Regularly reserve fifteen or twenty minutes before and after class for discussions with individual students who either arrive early or who want to hang around after class. Most students will not take advantage of these times, but your providing them conveys that you care about students' needs.

In today's technological world, most professors have established Web pages for at least one part of their courses. These pages enable students who are not inclined to ask questions in class or to approach professors outside class, to get to know you.

In your introduction, avoid saying, "This is the first time I am teaching this course" or "I was only asked to teach this class two days ago." Although such statements may be true, they serve no useful purpose and will surely hamper your ability to establish a positive classroom environment. Even if you have not had sufficient time to fully develop your syllabus, you should provide an overview of the course and its learning objectives, and then ask the students for feedback about their expectations. No later than the next class meeting, perhaps via e-mail before then, provide the class with a complete syllabus that includes a schedule of activities. If you do this confidently, students will feel that they had input into the planning of the class and perhaps will be more invested in its success.

Strategic professors know that the first day of class sets the tone (and can *almost* determine the success or the lack thereof) of a course. There are more and more successful cases that parents are choosing home schooling rather than main stream schools. How to weigh the benefits of home schooling? It is only when your child succeed later in his or her life. His achievements would be attributed to your hard work.

What Is Home Schooling?

With so much debate and controversies on the pretext of home schooling on whether the child is benefiting from this type of education. Having said that, home schooling is legal in the US, with issues currently debating and some are thinking of banning this procedure if there are evidence that the children do not benefit from such an education.

What are the reasons that parents are turning away from traditional education to homeschooling?

Most parents are hesitant to put their children in special designed school if they are suffering from mental or physical disabilities. Another reason is that they cannot attend normal schools. Parents like to notion that they can have instance supervision on what their kid is studying as they, themselves are the teachers. The child safety are being taken care of all the times. It is beneficial for most single parent who works at home as it is more convenient to know how their children are faring on their studies.

When you see your child's achievements, you realized that your efforts in teaching have finally paid off. This is in fact one of the greatest benefit of home schooling. However, there are some benefits of that I will be discussing:

Bonding will be lost with their children when they send them away to school. You will acquire valuable teaching and leaning experience with your child every day. You are responsible for the results of your kids that you can directly praise or blame them.

Although parents like to benefits of home schooling, but they also have to take note the disadvantages as well.

The home schooled child could be missing on interaction with other kids about the same age as him or her. This may be one of the major disadvantages of home schooling. Parents are getting too strict or sometimes too lenient when performing the teacher's role, this is bad for the child as he or she might be resistance in learning. Parents may not be equipped with the necessary academic knowledge and teaching ability.

For those parents already taken up home schooling for their kids, they will have to do their best and believe that they can get the benefits of home schooling finally. However, for those who are still considering, it is better to think of all perspectives before making the decision. Please do not have high hopes on the benefits of home schooling, for that you might get disappointed leaving you and your child with emotional stress.

Motivation is needed to get started on your progression. Many people think about taking action too much, but never do. They try to analyze all the ifs, ands, buts, and maybes. It's important to think about what you intend to do, but just don't think twice about doing it. You need motivation to get you started on taking action.

Motivation is needed to go past average. Mediocrity is one of the worst enemies to your success. There are those who 'do just enough', and there are those who 'do more than enough.' You may be strong, but if you're not willing to put more weight on and raise the bar, your muscles will never be flexed to its true potential. You have to get off the 'I'm just trying to get by' philosophy. Do more than what's required. Place more food on your work plate. Strive high. Don't settle for average. If your friends aren't at the level of greatness you wish to be, stop taking their advice! Mediocrity loves company.

Motivation is needed to keep going when you're already successful. When you reach your success, whatever that means to you, you're going to want to relax and get comfortable. It's necessary to enjoy your success, but don't get too comfortable, or you will lose it faster than you acquired it. You need to stay motivated so that you don't get too relaxed. There will always be other people who could use some help, and your family should be left with a great foundation for success as well. I can really tell someone's character by what they do when they're already successful. True colors are shown during these times. Motivation is crucial to the continuation of your progression when you're already successful.

Motivation is needed to overcome your fears. It builds courage and confidence. Everything you desire is on the side where your fears are faced, challenged, and overpowered. Those who kill their success are the same ones who are held at gunpoint by their fears. You can't allow fear to rob you of your happiness. Don't play victim in life. You must remain motivated in order to turn the tables on your fears.

Motivation is crucial. You will not get far without it. We must work together, and help each other to remain motivated. Only then will we truly elevate as a generation. I wish you the best of success, happiness, and prosperity.

DISCUSSION: Is happiness necessary to have peace?

Many people say that happiness is a prerequisite for peace (by peace I mean unstressed, a sort of ideal state). I was wondering what people thought about this. This is most likely an opinion, but I just want to hear some ideas on this (I'm also writing a report for philosophy). Also maybe someone can analyze what this quote is trying to say.

Ok. peace is when you are free of all the burdens of the world and content with the way your life is, you can breathe freely. happiness is a state that you are duh happy but it necessarily doesn't mean that you are at peace because to be at peace you have no more responsibilities and are at light. satisfaction is necessary. im not sure of happiness though.

for the quote. i think its basically saying that when you have no one to care for or no one cares for you, all your wealth is deprived from you, and nothing is left you are at peace because now you can finally breathe and be in the world without burden. no responsibilities. no hassles.
