The pros and cons of homeschooling are many, but do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? With total control over your child's homeschooling needs you have the flexibility to teach your child values that cannot be taught in a public classroom. On the other hand your time will not be as free as it used to be.

The education a child can gain from a loving and concerned parent will be much greater than is possible to receive in a public school system. You don't need a teaching credential or even a college degree, just the desire to give your child a quality education. If there are subjects that you don't feel comfortable teaching it is possible to hire a tutor for those classes. And on the positive side your home school curriculum can incorporate other things such as your own religious and moral beliefs, something that will not be taught in a public school system. By taking control of a child's education a parent can shape that child's value system better than anyone else.

There are two main requirements necessary to achieve a rewarding home schooling experience for both you and your child. Obviously you must have a desire to teach your children, that is number one. If you are doing it out of duty or obligation you may soon find yourself in way over your head and wanting to get out. The second requirement is determination. You must truly want your child to succeed and be willing to put forth the time and effort it takes for your child to reach his or her potential. With these two ingredients your child may be able to realize an education that could not be achieved in a public classroom.

You, more than anyone else, want your child to reach their full potential. This is usually not possible in a crowded classroom environment. A child, to learn at their best, must have one-on-one instruction from someone who truly cares for them. And who better than you can give that to them? Public school teachers are overwhelmed by the sheer number of students they must control every day. With the many different learning styles, discipline problems, regulations that need to be followed and other factors a public school teacher cannot spend the individual time with each child that is necessary to bring out that child's best. Home schooling can help children to blossom and bring out a child's full potential like nothing else can.

Do you have doubts about your ability to teach? All you have to do to overcome your fear is to visit a public classroom for a day. Visit a kindergarten class or a first grade class and you will see that much of the time spent is merely controlling the children's behavioral problems. And the lessons that are taught are usually very simple. In a one-on-one home atmosphere you will be able to progress at your own pace.

With a few home school books and lesson plans you will be able to get started very easily. Remember, you are starting your teaching experience with a very young child. And you will actually be able to learn as you go. With a little preparation it is possible to grow with your child. And the first time you see some of your instruction sink into your child's brain you will feel satisfied that you are performing a very important task. You will surely be surprised at how effective you can be as your child's homeschool instructor.

Public school teachers have their curriculum all laid out for them. They must follow programs and use materials that others have already approved for them. They must also move at a predetermined pace so that they can get through their study programs even if it means going forward at the expense of a child understanding what has been taught. You, on the other hand, can come up with your own homeschooling curriculum which can include religious or moral beliefs. You can take a field trip anytime you desire. You can make sure your child fully grasps a specific subject before moving forward. This will allow your child the opportunity to learn as they should be learning and at a pace they can keep up with. In a public system the slower children are often left behind.

There are negatives as well as positives however. The biggest negative to home schooling is your time. Your child will most likely receive a more rewarding education at home, but you will be devoting lots of your time to this cause. This could be a big sacrifice, especially if you are struggling financially and need to work. However, with a real desire you may be able to live without luxuries that will give you the time you need to offer your child the education they deserve. Search the internet for lesson plans, other pros and cons, christian home schooling information, home schooling requirements, home schooling books, eclectic homeschooling and other topics of interest. After researching this subject you may find that teaching your child will be even more rewarding for you than it is for your child. Atlanta Schools' Wellness "workshops to promote nutrition and physical education

When Atlanta opened its doors to schools In late August, a new project started. The well-being "launched the workshop of the school year with a workshop that included Olympic medalist Gail Devers Golden, author Yvonne Butler, 300 students from the Atlanta school district, teachers and community leaders. Atlanta Schools' Wellness Workshop Project is part of a comprehensive program designed to provide strategies for fitness and nutrition for students and staff in all schools in Atlanta. innovative strategies to be used include yoga classes for teachers and students, the lines vegetarian the cafeteria, and trails. The general plan has been developed by the School Board of Education Atlanta. The Education Council publish guidelines on how to implement the program and how schools are evaluated.

An important part of the plan is the establishment of welfare boards. These councils are composed of teachers, parents, administrators, students and community and business partners. The Council will contribute to the integration of schools Atlanta nutrition and physical education in existing programs. The black-fuselaged, red-winged 1929 Warren Disbrow New Standard D-25, registered N19157, appeared over the trees as it was elevator-trimmed on to its final approach toward the rolling grass field of Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, momentarily disappearing as it flared behind the hill and ultimately reappearing at the top of it with its conventional undercarriage now firmly ground-based. This was how America had been introduced to flying during the 1920s barnstorming days; it would certainly be the way I would be introduced to it--in an open-cockpit biplane. Paradoxically, the aircraft would do more than aerially transport me: it would "transport" me back in time.

Designed by Charles Healy Day as a successor to his earlier GD-24 series airframe, the D-25 had been built by three different aircraft manufacturers, each struggling to combat poor economic conditions, before finally being produced by the New Standard Airplane Company of Patterson, New Jersey, in 1929. Originally powered by the 220-hp Wright Whirlwind J-5 piston engine-which had also powered Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis-aircraft N19157 featured the equally-horsepowered, eight-cylinder, dual-bladed, uncowled Continental radial engine. The 45-foot upper wing sported trailing edge ailerons which, angled toward the tips, progressively increased in area. The open, single-pilot cockpit, positioned behind the two-bench, four- to five-passenger cabin box, was equipped with a stick, rudder pedals, and a sparse instrument panel: an airspeed indicator (calibrated in mph), an altimeter, a compass, an oil pressure gauge, an oil temperature gauge, a turn-and-bank indicator, and an engine starter. The current steerable rubber tailwheel replaced the design's original tailskid.

The Rhinebeck aircraft, with a 2,010-pound empty weight, featured a 1,400-pound payload capability comprised of the single pilot, four passengers, and 64 gallons of fuel.

The 55 D-25s produced were intended for the same purpose as N19157 would serve today-the exchange of revenue for rides-which, upon reflection, was the very definition of the word "barnstorming."

A single wooden step, the era's equivalent to a "jet bridge," led me on to the wing root and over the side into the enclosed--(I slipped on this adjective)--open cabin into the present-day equivalent of seat 2A, a nonsmoking, smoking, element-exposed window seat whose view encompassed as much as the passenger ventured to take in. The spartan "cabin" consisted only of the two previously mentioned bench seats and the wooden, chest-high half-sides and floor. I guess the sheer novelty of conquering lift for any amount of time far outweighed the importance of comfort. That would eventually take its place in the line of priorities.

Was a void from the biplane era really trapped in the present day and did anyone know about it? I had wondered.

The ground, camouflaged by a dense pattern of orange, yellow, and red autumn-transformed trees, was otherwise devoid of contemporary civilization. Accelerating between 70 and 80 mph, as registered by the port wing wire brace strut-installed, onrushing wind actuated-airspeed indicator, the biplane surmounted the silver surface of the Hudson River.

What many experts have known for months, if not the past year, is that our country is officially in a recession. In fact, the National Bureau of Economic Research announced in December that we have actually been in a recession since December 2007. Many business owners probably knew this long before the Bureau's announcement, feeling the effects of customers' budget cuts, a higher level of anxiety within the industry, and simply an overall gloom and doom mood, no thanks to the media's contribution as well. But what exactly is a recession and how will it affect your overall business strategy, and more specifically, your marketing plans for the next six to 12 months?

The Bureau defines an economic recession as "a significant decline in the economic activity spread across the economy, lasting more than a few months, normally visible in real GDP [gross domestic product] growth, real personal income, employment (non-farm payrolls), industrial production, and wholesale retail sales." With the Big Three automakers looking for government intervention and Wall Street receiving its own government bailout, most of us don't need a textbook definition. We're living in a recession on a daily basis.

When Wall Street began to spiral out of control in the summer of 2008, the natural instinct of most people was to pull out of their investments- simply out of sheer panic or the scariness of the unknown. It's a knee-jerk reaction however the response simply compounds the problem - which is exactly what you will do to your own business if you panic and pull back on your marketing efforts during these tough economic times. Let's look at some things to consider as you re-adjust your marketing plans for the short term.

1. Avoid being reactive, which will cost you money. It's a natural response to want to pull back on anything and everything that you don't deem a necessity during a recession, but doing so will literally take you and your business off of the map, and possibly close to extinction. It is critical for you to portray an image to your customers that you are remaining calm and keeping a clear head during these times. Remember, your customers will look to you for support and advice in order to keep their business afloat. You want to be a resource for them, as you've always been, not someone who's jumping ship and reducing all of your marketing and promotion to save a few bucks. Cutting back and reacting to every bit of news that comes your way regarding the recession will only reinforce the panic that may exist with your customers. Stay the course and think before making any decisions.

2. Communicate with your customers to let them know you're a stable VAR that will outlast the crunch. This tactic is really a follow-up to number one. Through constant, clear communication, you need to show and tell your customers what you are doing in order to avoid conjecture as to your stability. Demonstrate why you are the VAR that will outlast the competition. What makes you unique? If you start slashing your marketing budget, you will have no point of difference to share with your customers as to why you do things differently and why they should trust you during these uncertain times. Creative communication can also position you as a resourceful VAR. For example, one of the areas most typically cut during tough financial times is the travel budget. Let your customers know you have solutions that will offset their need to travel less. Create webinars and teleclasses that allow you to communicate valuable information to your customers, positioning yourself as a leader in the industry. This small marketing expense for you will win accolades with your customers. It's simple to do and gives you an outlet to keep the lines of communication open.

3. Whatever you do, don't slash prices! Again, this is one of those knee-jerk reactions that becomes an epidemic and a very bad cycle to get in to. It's natural to want to cut your prices to encourage your customers to buy from you and not your lower-priced competitors, but doing so simply exposes your desperation and also permanently lowers your street prices, ultimately devaluing your brand. Instead, look for value-added extras, so that you don't have to cut your prices but your customers believe they're getting more for the price. Leverage your affiliates and partners. See how you can work together to create promotions and deals that give show your customers that they're getting more for the same price they've always paid.

Marketing during a recession actually calls for you to dig deep into your business and commit to the fact that you are not going to cut back on programs and promotions - and will not cut pricing. Now is the time to focus on your brand and what that brand says to your customers. What are your core products and points of difference that make you shine? Communicate these aspects to your customers and let them know that even during a time of constant flux, you are stable with your products and ideas. Steer clear of price cuts, and don't cut quality just to save a few dollars. If your reputation was built on good, quality products and services, compromise will only devalue your brand, creating a costly rebuilding effort later. There is an end to this recession and you want to come out shining on the other side.

Who has a better rep, Webster University, University of Phoenix or Keller Graduate School of Management?

I want to get a Graduate degree. I want it to be a MBA with a technical emphases or a Master in Information Systems or Master in I.T.

For a grad degree in business, you ideally want the program to be AACSB accredited. Many employers will only hire MBAs if they've gone to an AACSB accredited program. Of course, there are also some employers who don't care about that, but there are enough that do care that I feel I must mention it.

The AACSB accredited programs in TN are:
-Belmont University
-East Tennessee State University
-The University of Memphis
-Middle Tennessee State University
-University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
-University of Tennessee at Knoxville
-University of Tennessee at Martin
-Tennessee State University
-Tennessee Technological University
-Vanderbilt University

But that said, an AACSB accredited school may not fit what you need, as you describe it. If that's the case, try to find the best respected MBA program that you can. And of those you listed, that's absolutely the one at Webster University.

Many employers have a strong bias against MBAs and other grad degrees from for-profit schools. Both U of P and Keller are for-profit schools. There's a real danger that you'd graduate with a grad degree and not be able to find a job with it, if you went there.

You don't need to quit your job to get an MBA or other masters degree. Many schools offer part-time programs that are designed for working professionals such as yourself.

In addition, if you can't find something you like local to you, you can go online. As with for-profit unis, though, a lot of employers are biased against online masters degrees. Thus you can combat that by going to a school that has a solid rep for their offline programs. Schools that offer online masters degrees in some or all of the fields you mentioned include Northeastern U, U Maryland, Penn State, UMass Amherst, Boston University, Drexel U, Southern New Hampshire U, UMass Dartmouth, Tiffin U, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Polytechnic University (NY), and others. In fact, if you can find a school that's vaguely in commuting distance of your home - say, within a few hours drive - there's usually no way for an employer to tell you did the degree online.
