Internet marketing is essential for anyone who wants to market anything on the web. The basic principles on how to apply and use internet marketing are explained in this article. Internet marketing and internet advertising go together.

So you created a website or blog. How will someone find and discover you? The solution is internet marketing and online advertising. The most important question for success in promoting your online presence is for people to find you because you provide a service or product they want. If you fill the search engine question give me the right product or service at the proper price with a well designed and built website or blog then you have made the first step to internet marketing.

Let's answer some questions on marketing.

Is internet marketing easy?

In a simple word no! If it was then there would not exist an internet marketing business covering many aspects from simple online search engine optimization to more advance like guaranteed top ranking position for selected keywords.

Is internet marketing expensive and not applicable to small budgets?

Yes and no. It is expensive if you make the fatal mistake of buying every product you see being promoted or advertised. Suddenly you have spent a few thousands dollars trying to learn the holy grail of marketing success. But you only spent money and not made any yet. Marketing on the web can also be free or almost free as if you search for phrases like how to learn marketing and add the word free then you have many options as many internet marketers promote their services for free or give their advice and tips at no cost just to advertise themselves for free and expand their audience by creating an authority to their field. So put the magic word free in front of every search request regarding marketing on the web.

Is internet marketing easy to learn?

Again yes and no. It is not easy because it takes time, plenty of time to experiment, learn what actually works and what not. Time means money. If you are prepared to dedicate many of your free time then internet marketing will become much easier. Try to use and be active in major web 2.0 communities and forums because being interactive with other people who share common interests with you is beneficial as you gain knowledge at no cost because again participation in these communities is in most cases free.

What is the most common myth of internet marketing?

The most common misconception is that in a very short time maybe overnight you will be on number 1 page or position on major search engines out of nowhere. To gain number 1 position either on page or better in position is a very difficult task that gets more difficult if you aim for very popular keywords such as money, business, sex and naturally marketing.

Is internet marketing the only way to promote my business online?

Without any doubt yes. The internet is a very dynamic and vast market. If you want millions of people to find you then you must apply major marketing and advertising techniques.

How can a beginner use and learn internet marketing?

As we mentioned for start make a thorough search on many search engines for simple phrases like what are some simple marketing tips and techniques adding the word free. In most cases free advice is precious. Make your life simple and easy. So we presented 6 marketing questions and thoughts about how to promote your website or blog. These are simple but effective ideas. Sometimes simplicity is the key to success.

UIUC vs UMD??. Which is better option?

I got admissions from following universities as ECONOMICS major as an international student.

1) University of Maryland - College Park
2) University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign
3) Oxford College of Emory University
4) Indiana University - Bloomington

(Well, I don't think the rankings of the department won't matter so seriously since I'm undergrad)

I'm not an American, but I thought UMD can offer me better options since it is close to the DC.
But, considering overall rankings and college size, UIUC seems pretty attractive too.
Well.. Oxford College is kind of cool that I eventually end up with degree from Emory.
But, Oxford College seems like inferior option... I just have sort of image like that.

IU-Bloomington is also a great college, but since I'm not going to B-school I don't think it's
the best option among all.

ANY IDEA WHICH ONE CAN BE BEST OPTION AS ECON MAJOR?

Well I'm going to Maryland next year and I chose it because of its location (near D.C) and it's diverse student body

good luck

I need help on amazon?

I am a student and i need the eighth edition of Economics by Roger A. Arnold. On amazon I found this:

Economics Eighth Edition (Custom) (Paperback) by Roger A. Arnold (Author)

all i want to know is what "custom" means. Thanks

When a textbook is a "custom" edition it means that it has been customized to a specific school's specifications. This can mean that examples and questions could be different from the standard publication or extra notes or workbook section could have been added...or it might be almost identical to the standard edition, possibly with only the addition of the school's name to the cover or title page. If the book was not intended for use specifically in the class you are taking at your school then I would avoid a custom textbook, it will just end up causing you problems since there is no way of knowing when you're buying it secondhand what changes have been made.

The function of these custom text is basically to make money for the school (they receive royalties for each copy sold) and to increase sales for the publisher by making secondhand sales of their texts essentially impossible (some even put a statement on the book itself, like Gideon bibles, that they are not to be bought or sold used).

Here are a couple of articles that explain what the deal is with custom textbooks if you're want to know more.

The University of Paris 06 is the best university in France according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). The ARWU is published by the Institute of Higher Education at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University and several indicators of academic or research performance are used to establish the ranking, these include highly cited researchers, articles indexed in major citation indices and staff winning Nobel Prizes.

The Top-5 universities in France

There are twenty-three French universities in the Word's Top-500 universities (2008). The Top-5 universities in France are: 1. University of Paris 6 (ranked 42nd in the world); 2. University of Paris 11 (ranked 49th); 3. Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris (73rd); 4. University of Paris 7 (101-151) and University of Strasbourg(101-151). The University of Paris 6 has been the best university in France since 2003, when the ARWU was first published.

French Universities

Universities in France are predominantly public institutions. Interestingly, the best students attend the 'Grandes Ecoles' ['Grand Schools'] (a higher education establishment outside the mainstream framework of the public universities system). Whilst the universities are open to all students who finish their high school education (with a 'Baccalauréat'), the 'Grandes Ecoles' require an additional entrance exam which is highly competitive.

In comparison to French universities, the 'Grandes Ecoles' are relatively small institutions. For example, the University of Paris 6 (ranked 42rd in the world) has 30,000 students whilst the Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris (ranked 73rd in the world) only has 2,000 students.

Compared to other OECD countries, France has an average density of top universities (0.4 universities per 1 million inhabitants in France compared to 0.4 for OECD countries as a whole. It is striking to note that 9 out of the 23 universities (39%) that appear in the ARWU are located in Paris.

The University of Paris

The historic University of Paris was founded in the mid 12th century, In 1970 it was reorganized as 13 autonomous universities (University of Paris I-XIII). The university is often referred to as the Sorbonne or La Sorbonne. The universities are now essentially independent of each other. Despite this link, and the historical ties, there is no University of Paris system that binds the universities at an academic level.

The University of Paris 6

The University of Paris 6 or the Pierre and Marie Curie University (UPMC) is a public university that was established in 1971. It is a large university with 30,000 students: 22,000 undergraduates and 8,000 graduates. International students represent 14% of the student population.

The University of Paris 6 was the principal heir to the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Paris and is now the largest scientific and medical complex in France. The main campus (Jussieu Campus) is located in the Latin Quarter of the 5th arrondissement in Paris, with most facilities on a campus of 500 000m². For more details about the University of Paris 6.

What colleges have the best undergraduate economics programs?

I am currently a junior and I think I want to major in Economics when I am in college. I want to go to a college with fairly warm weather, so the colleges I am currently considering are: Emory, Claremont McKenna, Georgetown, George Washington, American, University of Richmond, Pitzer. How do these schools rank for undergraduate economic programs?

Also, does anyone know where to find a list of college rankings according to major?

There aren't really any undergraduate rankings for Econ. But the general consensus for the best ones are:
Columbia
UC Berkeley
U Chicago
Duke
Princeton
Harvard
UCLA
U Wisconsin Madison
U Michigan Ann Arbor
NYU
Northwestern
UPenn
Wesleyan
MIT

Out of your list, Emory, Georgetown, and Claremont McKenna are generally the best.
